
Coca Cola Orange Vanilla Augmented Refreshment
Summary
Coca Cola Orange Vanilla Augmented Refreshment was created to engage with San Francisco Giants fans in-stadium with help from their sponsor Coca Cola. OVAR is a vision of our AR-tshirt cannon, re-imagined for Coca Cola. This experience lived within the San Francisco Giants mobile app and showcased the launch of Coca Cola’s new orange vanilla flavor. The goal was to have fans in-stadium virtually catch Coca Cola bottles and to redeem prizes to promote and create awareness for Coca Cola’s new flavor.
Problem Solving
If you’ve attended a sport game at an areana often times t-shirts cannons aren’t able to reach fans in all parts of arenas or stadiums. As a team, we thought of the idea of an AR t-shirt cannon, increasing the chances for everyone in attendance to win a prize. We designed this for Coca Cola and re-imagined t-shirts as Coca Cola bottles being virtually launched and appearing on your phone. Instead of having someone physically launch t-shirts, we imagined Coca Cola vending machines to launch the bottles through the San Francisco Giants’ jumbotron. The design decision to utilize red as a positive winning color by sticking to the brand style guide really emphasized the connection of Coca Cola to success within the app.
Role
I was the product designer on this project creating user flows, wireframes, mockups, assets, and a video for the jumbotron. My role also consisted of iterating based on feedback from the client and from on-site testing. I designed this experience wanting to keep the game play screen less distracting to the user while also utilizing Coca Cola’s brand assets for their new flavor. This project had a significant impact on me growing as a designer. I was able to learn the basics of Adobe After Effects within a week and apply this new knowledge to create the jumbotron video that was used on launch day. It was rewarding in the end to not only create the interface for this experience but also create the video assets to compliment that design.
Re-Imagined
Coca Cola OVAR was one of many experiences designed from the idea of our AR t-shirt cannon. Creating the experience was so successful with other clients we were able to re-design for many other clients. As a team we were able to design multiple experiences for the Sacramento Kings, the New York Jets & Bud Light, Rugby Series 7s, AT&T, and more. Shown to the right is the experience Kings Cannon that we launched with the Sacramento Kings.
